About Surf Song

Why We Love Surf Song

To us, Straddie is more than just an island…

If you are after a seaside get-away, you don't need to drive up or down the coast battling the traffic with thousands of commuters. Nothing beats the ease of driving on the barge and turning the engine off. As you enjoy the 50 minute cruise to the island, the stress literally fades away. All you have to do is relax, enjoy the scenery and inhale the clean sea air. On occasion we have even seen southern right whales and dolphins cruising in the bay. Arriving at the ferry terminal is like stepping into another world and it’s right on Brisbane’s doorstep.

Surf Song is perfectly located an easy walk, approximately 200m from Home Beach. No need to pile wet and sandy people in the car to get to and from the beach. Straddie is famous for its incredibly clear sparkling turquoise waters and taking a dip or a stroll along the beach feels like being in a remote tropical paradise.…

Surf Song is perfect for entertaining, the open plan tropical style lounge and kitchen opens on to the deck, so even the cooks have a great ocean view and feel part of the action on the deck. A special part of our holiday involves having drinks at sunset in the whale watch tower, we can confirm that it genuinely is a whale watch tower as we have seen whales in the bay. Around sunset is also the time the Kookaburras come in to perch on the lamp posts outside the house.

In the mornings we like to breakfast on the back deck which has bushland views.

When it is quiet, the kangaroos often come right up to the back fence.

If you are feeling like a night out there are a number of restaurants located within easy walking distance including: The Straddie Hotel, The Bowls Club and Whales Way, this is good news because sometimes nobody wants to be the designated driver.

Surf Song is a luxurious house for all seasons and all ages. Two fireplaces keep you cosy in the winter, two lounge rooms and three decks help keep the little ones out of sight, but still comfortably in mind. That is assuming they aren't all tuckered out from eternal days of sun, sand, surf...

This is what it is for us.

What will Straddie be for you...?
